I have baited bears. Fed more than enough cubs. It wasn't for long so did not have time to establish the baits. Time consuming is what it is, but its fun so I wouldnt call it hard work. In my opinion, spot and stalk would be harder to find a mature boar rather than placing bait and conditioning bears to come to the bait. especially if you run the same baits year after year, that cub turns into a mature boar and probably isn't that afraid as he has seen/smelled you sitting in that stand for years and you haven't hurt him yet.
