I believe all farmed Salmon are Triploids (3N) and cannot spawn (sterile).

As a result these fish do nothing but eat and grow and eat and grow. Not a natural fish at all. At 12 months of age they can be 500% (5 times) the weight of a natural fish. People buy fish by the pound, so seems like a perfect way to grow them large, quickly and get them to market.

The issue is with parasites and disease spread to native fish/salmon.
