Interesting story... I had a '90 Nissan Stanza whos rear left strut mount decided to rust through 6 miles east of Field BC on the Trans Canada Highway. To make a long story short, "Sxxxdish Towing" out of Banff ended up hauling the girl back to Calgary where my mechanic confirmed the bad news.

Thankfully my Dad gets me the CAA platinum membership, so I only had to pay for 52 km of towing @ $270, instead of a $1200 + bill that would have certainly been worth more than the vehicle.

Had a buddy go shake a mountain near Banff and he didnt realize he parked in a lot where you apparently shouldnt (I think, cant remember the specifics).
Anyways, cops showed up, treated the vehicle as abandoned, and got the same towing company to take care of his truck. In the end when he got his truck back he was frigged out of $1300.

Seems to me that when that company can take advantage, they certainly will.

Keep your arses covered.
