The other thing is to pick species that are more tolerant of poor water conditions and lower oxygen levels. But this may just slightly limit winter kill if oxygen levels are getting really low. Trout are not really a “tough” fish though and not the best option for poor conditions
Would be nice to see if trying to enhance habitat/water quality of lakes like this and stocking more tolerant species would be worthwhile long term. Likely just my overthinking and curiosity just running wild. Plus it is not going to be worth while in some cases
