Finally I did it myself and was able to get it working on win 8 and 10 but it was a pain.
10 is definately easier.

Funny, same issues. Telus told me to phone Apple. Unfortunately never did solve the problem. Apple confirmed all the mail settings were correct and that it could have been a bad download. Not wanting to have another go with Telus I'm currently living with "a kind of working" email. Two days later a Telus telemarketer phoned and asked if I was interested in more add ons. LOLOLOLOL. Had a bit of a chat with her ands was sorry later that I was so rude but come on, who's the service provider and who's the customer here. They don't get it and most likely never will. Underperforming companies who have a lock on the market typically underperform.
