Great story. Your daughter will likely never forget it. By the way, that rubbed tail is likely mange. I would burn the carcass, skin on. I would not skin it, nor touch it without rubber gloves. The mites that transmit mange can spread it to people and othe canines. Wash everything well if it was in contact with mites.
