With the high speed electric (in the picture) it makes life easy - so generally, yes, I run the riggers mostly. In terms of "fish catching" they both work equally well (dipsy vs rigger) in most situations down to about 70ft down, any deeper than that and the dipsies have to much line out and you don't always get a deep hook set. The deeper you go, the nicer the downrigger especially if it's the lazy man's electric
