I got a savage package deal a few years back for my birthday and they are good rifles mind you i took the gun apart put some fiberglass in the stock to add some wieght and also through a high end bushnell scope on top of it and that rifle has droped lots of game and has a super smooth action! I know alot of people bad talk Savage/stevens but they are deadly accurate and very reliable. Most competitive shootes are shooting a savage or stevens and winning on them.
