Never. For that matter I have been checked at the boat launch & on water by F&W many times & NEVER been asked for my PCOC which is a particular burr up my you-know-what since they made such a huge deal out of it a couple years ago!
I imagine the only time you would get asked for boat registration is if the boat was reported/suspected stolen or you got picked going through one of those joint RCMP & F&W check stops they do once in a while.
