Even General Lee said if he had to do it all over....he would NOT have faught the confederate war. It was a huge meaningless waste of human life.
What "history" books have you been reading? Jackson was wounded in Chancellorville and died from to complications due to pneumonia after having his arm amputated -- a full two years before the first Klan was ever formed.

Hardly a "retirement".
