Id check out Celestron if your looking for a budget spotter. I got the Ultima and am quite impressed with it for 200 bucks. They also make a Regal which gets good reviews. In saying that I was expecting my Celestron to be a paperweight, so maybe thats why Im impressed.

If you do buy the Ultima and have a 600 dollar budget. Id buy the Baader Hyperion Zoom eye piece as well. It supposedly takes the Ultima to a new level as the big glass in the main body of the spotters is relatively easy and cheap to make. It's the small glass in the eye piece where companies cut the cost, and from what Ive read the cheaper scopes actually come with plastic lenses. Where as the Baader has 9 glass lenses. This will be my next upgrade once I get a bit of cash in hand.

Also check out the Vortex Diamondback spotter. If it's as good as their bino's Im sure you'll be happy with it.
