i always use bobbers for perch and i find as long as the bobber is small it would work well. even the simple kids orange/white or white/red plastic bobbers in the smallest size works well for sensitivity, and when i set the hook using the fixed bobbers i just hand line it in.cost of the kids/plastic bobbers are like $0.20 each. i tend to carry a variety of assortment in sizes and styles.
