Back in the 70s and 80s, my range guns were 700 varmint models, but after owning two more recent Sendero rifles that did not shoot as well, I switched to Tikka. All of the newer Remington firearms appear to be suffering as far as quality control, some are okay, but too many have issues, compared to 20 or 30 years ago. Most are not as bad as the crap Remington sold under the Marlin name when they first moved the production of Marlin rifles, but overall, the quality has suffered. There just isn't much available in the $1500 and under range that has a good trigger, and that doesn't have a plastic stock. Then again, even though many people don't like the plastic stocks, they do produce good accuracy.
Real gunsmiths can get a Remington trigger to under 3 lbs no issues.
A 1500$ plastic stocked rifle is a rip off. Period.
Handle a model 70 coyote light, its twice the rifle compared to a tikka imo.
