Not sure what it was but it has happened on a few different occasions over a few different years but while sleeping in the tent in a remote hunting camp it sounds like something whacking about a 2” tree on another tree just outside our tent. As soon as we would make any noise or move inside the tent it would stop. May not here it again for a few nights or until the following year.
