I would make a small hole, like a shallow gopher hole, and place a 1/4 cup of stink bait such as this Beaver Tail goo, in the bottom of the hole.
In other words, a dirt hole set, with a leg hold trap.
But I'm pretty sure a guy could do the same thing close to a Coyote trail and then set snares on that trail and get good results.
You could probably put a gob on a low branch and get the same results but it probably would last as long, the birds and mice would clean it up in no time I think.
