Bolt face diameter is fine for 6.5-.284 but I think you'd have to put an extended mag box conversion to fit the longer case with 140 grain seated out far enough to not take up case capacity. It could be done of course.
I think a long action would be the way to go with 6.5-.284.
Sticking with a SA cartridge, which the OP inquired about is still the easy button
