I have a 2003 with a 8.1 and Allison. Gets a little better now then when new but you don't have a 8.1 for mileage. For example a couple years ago Moose hunting ( bush roads mud then dry, etc ) we were adding 5 gallons every 38 km on average................. 
Around town/Hwy I get about 10m/Gal if I keep my foot out of it.
