I did the opposite of you! I moved from the island to alberta haha, it was the right move at the right time though. I would go back in a heart beat though.
I did a lot of upland while I lived there and your right pheasants are hard to find but when you find a spot you tend not to tell anyone
what I will tell yeah is you have to go up between Courtenay and Campbell river to really find them. Farmers are usually your best bet. Hope that maybe gives you some help!
