Such a bracket might work for a downrigger if it was built heavy enough.

Here is a great solution for your canoe rod holder problems. You can place this mount anywhere along the side and put any Scotty product into it.
Going to pick up my canoe from my dad's place this summer. Can't wait as I already have all my toys sitting and waiting to mount em.
