6.5 Shooter who ever said that to you was correct. Yes the bullet starts falling the moment it leaves the rifle if it is perfectly level and sighted at the muzzle. How you would do that I don't know. How ever even sighted in at 100yds the bullet crosses the line of sight twice. The reason being your muzzle is below your scope or sights. We would likely have a tough time seeing this in real life because the climb would be so hard to notice.
