I don’t think he had a choice, he was likely going broke without his bear hunts to pay the bills. You can’t survive doing 8 goat hunts a year that involve flying. It’s unfortunate the area is gone forever now, but this was likely the best outcome for him.
And if there is compensation for the loss of our grizzly hunts down the road, he’ll still get the money even though it sold
