It could be that the walleye really stack up in Marina Bay. I've been there even on the Canada Day long weekend and the bay is full of them, you can fish from shore and get 50 or more fish in a day. But late July it is almost completely cleared out, so it could simply be that the fish are too vulnerable in that area in the spring, even after spawning.
