My wife got me a membership to the Scotch Malt Whiskey Society and they have tastings of rare whiskeys (mostly cask strength) each month. Then if you like you can buy a bottle. Usually only a single cask so if you like it make it last because you wasn't find it again! I find Keg and Cork in Edmonton to have a great selection and a tasting bar as well.
I usually keep a pretty big selection in the cabinet as I like something different pretty regularly.
And my latest find was a whole bunch of Macallan 21...had to grab one and it will sit for a special occasion!
