Samuel Clemens' (a.k.a. Mark Twain's) works have stood the test of time, but he's been branded as a racist many times in the past because of the words and phrases he used to properly depict the times of his youth (mid 1800's). Truth be known, he was as anti-slavery and anti-racist as they come ... his only crime was to tell the truth about how it really was back then. A clear-cut case of
'shooting the messenger' if you ask me!
Personally, I have a great fear of this 'political correctness' trend that's building in our society ... mostly because there a far too many people who bow to it, or who can't be bothered to fight it.
