Of course this is not taking angles in consideration, and I always chrono my rounds since I hand load, factory loads gives you velocity on the box so it is easy to plug in those numbers in a ballistic calculator, free online btw.
But everyone is different its what works for you, I have a simple schmidt and bender scope so that makes it simple for me.

Plugging in the advertised velocity into a ballistic app is just asking for a miss. Garbage data in garbage data out. I recently bought a box of nosler 270wsm 140 gr accubonds with an advertised velocity of 3100 fps. I bought this ammo to break in the barrel on a new 270wsm. I ran it across my magnetospeed and chrony. I got 2865 and 2840.
