Not sure about the internet but they tax your wifi big time. I have 3 cameras and a DNR-202L recorder. I put them on their own router and it's fine.

They do have outdoor cameras. I have 2 of them DCS-2330L and DCS-2332L. They have both been outside for a few summers and winters with no issues.
The DNR-202L works pretty good as well. Has quite a few features for a $90.00 item. Also nice to view multiple cameras.
