On the first 22 I ever owned, I did (unknowingly) use a "centerfire" 3-9X scope and realized (trial and error) that it just seemed to work better when dialed-down to 3X-4X. lol Looking back now, I think the parallax issues were just less noticeable at lower magnifications.
So yes, they CAN work...but really aren't the best tools for the job.

Ya I bought a new Bushnell Elite 3x9x40 and i can get the reticle clear but at 25 yards the tack target is a bit blurry and I cant get it out with eye focus so that may be because its an indoor range and the light is iffy or its just too close to me. It’s a shame because the elite is worth more than any rimfire scope i looked at. I did buy a rimfire specific scope (Nikon ProStaff)but i think it will go on a savage mark II im doing a pillar and glass bed job on right now. May be looking for a trade or sale of the Bushnell,,,,,,
