B&C often requires animals that score very high in the books to be panel scored before their score becomes official. They will be listed in the books with an * until the panel gives them an official score.

The strange thing is, if you refuse to send it for panel scoring, it is removed from the books all together. I had a buddy that shot the world record mountain caribou and it was listed with an * for a number of years but as he refused to send it for panel scoring, they eventually removed it from the book.
