So today I should buy a lotto ticket ..went to check some close to home snares and found a nice coyote caught in one around the chest like a saddle cinch .. he was wound around a broom stick size small tree and struggling to get out.. Not wanting him to break free I dropped my pack and shouldered my 17hmr and from 30 prepared to dispatch him . I always go for the top of lungs as they tend to bleed less than a headshot.
Pull the trigger and promptly hit the breakaway on the snare and release him!!Luckily the tiny bullet penetrates enough that he only makes it 40yds and goes down..couldn't hit that again with a bench rest ..
