Just FYI, you don't have to scrub with steel wool. The maroon primer that's on the steel will take most any paint after you clean it up a bit with some brake cleaner. I find that engine enamel works really well and it's very cheap at Can Tire. White gives excellent contrast against the dark bullet marks on the steel when the paint chips off.

I must just be using the cheap paint then, lol it wasnt sticking very well til I gave it a scrub.
