C2: Agreed, although chamberings in 300 win mag really stretch the definition of varmint hunting for me. Good for those trophy size gophers I suppose .
P: I think in the 300 Win Mag and the 7mm Rem Mag, the thought is to use it more as a 'beanfield' rifle than as a varmint even though the name is the same.
