I guess you need distilled water for them to work, it seems like the lake water has too many impurities.
I've heard none of them really works.
It's almost impossible not to stir up some impurities either when setting up the camera or jigging or pounding the bottom to attract the fish.

Most people likely aren’t even aware of the fact that using lights of any kind on your camera while fishing is illegal here.
