Glad you found such a good deal. You will love the 45-70. I have always had at least two or three around for the past 40 years. Far and away the best thumper of black bears for bear control I ever used and we tried everything from 460 down to 243.

The heavier bullets work fine, ( with the 500 grain bullets you have to seat them deep enough to cycle and this affects which powders you can use) but you don't need more than 350 to 405 grains to get complete pass throughs, front to back on moose and bear. Also, 1600-1900 fps loads kick way less than the hot loads and kills every bit as well. It is the size of the hole that does the job, not the velocity. My favourite jacketed bullets is the 350 Grain Hornady RN and the old Remington 405 Cor locks.

With the scope you will easily be good to 250 yards. Let us know how the reloads come out.
