This is my first season trying out ice fishing, bought all the equipment (tip ups, heater, tent and manual auger) but how hard will it be using the manual auger? Would it be a waste of time? I'm thinking of drilling about 10 holes since I'll be going with a family of 5. Thoughts?

I use a manual auger all the time. If your blades are sharp, it's not bad right now. I find that drilling later is the season when there's 30-36" of ice and you finish your hole on your knees, that's when it gets hard.
