If I might make a suggestion.... buy your young partner a daily fishing journal that he can do a write up after each trip. He will enjoy looking back at it one day 30 years from now.

I’m a little late to the party but I started a journal this year. In hopes my kids will have some knowledge and memories to read when I can no longer walk the rivers and hike the lakes with them.
