Try brass or copper Wetaskiwin Spoons. Bounce them on the bottom, raise up a foot or so to flutter down then let hang motionless 2" - 4" off bottom for 10 - 15 seconds. They will grab it while hanging motionless or as you raise it off bottom. Gave up on wire worms with or without bait several years ago. In past years we have found 8' - 13' seem best this time of year and especially try to locate where burbot spawn for the next few weeks as the whites congregate there to scavenge burb eggs.
