At 500yd you would have to correct for +/-80moa or +/-410", assuming your scope is zeroed at 100yd. Even if you zero it at 300yd and go for 500yd, you still have to apply +/-48moa (+/-250") correction.
Theoretically you can go there using a moa rail scopemount and a high quality scope but is it worth?

My savage 22 has +83 MOA of vertical adjustment with the rail and z mounts and using all the hash marks on the reticle with my 50 yd zero. Using the tang sight on the marlin I have confirmed hits out to 400 yds and still have some vertical adjustment left over. For me it's something to play around with and it's cost effective for training.
