The only two things to come out of Caroline are figure skaters and sister daters.
Caroline is on the decline and I think was recently absorbed by Clearwater County. I'm not sure I'd want to live in town but there are many nice places around Caroline.
Every town in Central Alberta has a shop looking for mechanics. Lacombe, Ponoka, Rimbey, Bentley, Innisfail, Olds, Sylvan are all close enough to Red Deer for commuting to work, reasonably close to either Calgary or Edmonton, and within a couple hours of the mountains.
