Great round. Close to 30.06 for knockdown power. Far better in a semi-auto, because of the short cartridge. A lot of elk and moose have hit the ground after a shot from a .308. I do not have a .308, but have watched hunting partners put their animals down with one. Personally, I prefer a 7mm Mag. or a .338.
