For my 14th birtday I recived my lever action savage 308. It came with a 4 bullet clip and Dad bought me a second clip. I'm 39 now and still shoot it. I now use federal high energy, 180 grain nosler partitions and I absolutlly love the gun. I have shot moose and deer, usally the bullet goes right through. Every year or so I think of buying a bigger gun and every time I think why, the gun is light, carries more than enough of a punch and there is almost no recoil. My farthest shot was a whitetail buck at 250 to 300 yrds. I had a rest and all three shots, One standing and two running went right through. All my deer and moose died within 100 yrds. In my opinion this is a great all around gun. Now if I could only get a bull elk to stand still long enough to add that species to my list. Hope this helps
