There is a chance you might forget that it was in there and pre-heat your oven to 425F and only remember once your oven chimes to let you know it is up to temperature.

Nooooooo! By the way for the next try... the counter is fine. Even a cold kitchen like ours (~16 C) works. It just takes longer to get a starter going.
