Here in manitoba, it is mandatory to have your name and address on your shack. The main reason for that is: all shacks have to be off the ice by a certain date, usually March 15 Or sooner depending on ice conditions. This way the Conservation Dept knows who to phone. Also i think it's a great idea if fishermen look out for each other's shacks.
