Government needs to do more in regards to protecting the habitat of traditional spawning streams before they start trying to re-introduce bulls back where they have disappeared. Too much sedimentation created from clear cuts, insufficient buffer zones and associated roads has really affected populations. To just throw more eggs in a poor situation will not have great results.

The experiment of man-made redds certainly has merit. Hopefully the results are favorable.
Ensuring long term quality habitat for future spawning and rearing in headwater streams needs to be the first step before planting eggs though.

Good to see all the students out getting some hands-on experience with some wild fish
