Most predators like to wound there prey first before killing it. So if your trolling and the bait gets bumped definitely open bail and let bait free fall or drop rod tip to create slack line and like other said they will hit it again. If you keep on trolling and your bait keeps swimming away it’s not realistic to them after bumping or wounding your bait. Walleye will bump test as well.
