These show are a major source of revenue for the community groups that put them on. There is a bunch of economic spin off into the community as a result of them. Food, lodging, fuel, maybe some shopping. In many small communities in AB with the loss of income from O&G exploration a bit of a boost is very welcome.

That being said none of the shows are responsible for what their vendors charge, it's a free market. If you don't like it don't attend. Your $5 dollars a day for entertainment will be missed, but that is your right.
