Rat subs
We used to make them from chicken wire which is has 6 sided 1 inch holes
and we used the stiff wire with 1x1 inch square holes for the funnels.
We made several different diameters to fit different size runs. We left the
sub hung in the willows beside each run from season to season. Every 4-5
runs we would not set a run and leave those for breeding stock because the
subs are deadly. We used to set in november with 3-4 inches of ice, sometimes with no snow the runs are very visable. Our take was between
3000 to 4000 per year, we had a old guy hired to help skinning and stretching.
Has anyone tried making the body from stucco wire.
