You can't remember the names of half the "kids" in your department that you work with (and almost everyone is a kid to you now), but you can remember all the names of the people you started working with 35 or 40 years ago. I put half of it down to memory loss, and the other half to "I don't give a damn".
Speaking of "I don't give a damn", that IS one nice thing about getting older. You care less and less what other people think. And once you "make your numbers" at work, you don't even care much what your superiors think. LOL Fire me, please.
