It is frustrating trying to buy things when the stores will not order them in.
Do whatever you like but, a 270 kicks like a 30-06 using the same weight bullets at the same velocity. Weight of gun, and a good recoil pad make more of a difference than cartridge.

Loading a 30-06 with a 130 grains Barnes TSX down to 2700 feet per second is a long ways from a 30-30, which slings a 170 grain bullet at 2000 fps, about the performance of a 7-08 and about the kick of a 243. With an 8 LB gun/scope, 130 Barnes at 2700 FPS the 30-06 only produces 10.3 LBs of kick. A full bore load of 243, 100 grain bullet at 3100 fps same weight gun is 10.7 FPS. That said, strictly up to you, just trying to provide some insight based on having done a lot of downloading of popular cartridges when starting of recoil shy gunners in the sport..
