Default Dwight Rodtka

Many of you might recognize the name.

For those who don't know, he is the poster child for the anti trapping/anti snaring movement in Alberta.

I know nothing about him other then that he was strongly against snaring so I decided to try to find out more about him.

He describes himself as a retired Alberta Government Problem Wildlife Specialist.

So what is a Problem Wildlife Specialist I wondered.
Turns out I was one, only we called ourselves county trappers.

Same job same requirements, different name.

So how much of a specialist is a county trapper/Problem Wildlife Specialist?

The Alberta government job description says to qualify for the position one must;
Quote:
Have a High school diploma plus one year related experience &/or training in natural resources. Equivalencies will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with previous Government of Alberta experience as a Problem Wildlife Technician
In other words no trapping experience required. And only a High School diploma.

So in his case calling himself a specialist is a stretch at best.

I thought some of you might like to know that should you ever encounter him.
