It's been a few years but I will say that I have fished the Skeena from shore, with a heavy rod, 60 lb. test and a bottom rig with a spin and glow, and the salmon fishing was great. Be prepared to take a long while to land the big salmon from shore. Be sure you have no log jams upstream or downstream along the shoreline because you might be chasing the salmon to gain line. A heavy spoon on a medium weight rod was great for sea run trout too.
I fished between Old Remo and 25 miles downstream. The north shoreline along side of hwy 16. I went fishing there and ended up staying for 6 months, just for the fishing.
